Hey friend!
- Are you curious about what a list of your personal "most popular" songs would look like over the past year?
- Have you ever wondered what type of music you tend to listen to more often during a particular season of the year?
- Do you ever wonder how many minutes of music you listen to in a week?
- [Insert random listening history curiosity question here]?
If so, I have good news and bad news for you. The bad news... I don't have algorithms written to answers these questions "yet". The good news? I'm planning to create them very soon! I have some of an algorithm created to help answer the first question above, but I need to finish it and create a pretty interface for it before I release it for everyone to use. Keep an eye out!
In the meantime, I threw together a quick tool that can be used to back up your Last.fm listening history. I needed to be able to have full and quick access to all of my listening history in order to be able to test out some of these algorithms, and apparently Last.fm removed the feature they used to provide that allows users to back up their scrobble history. Thankfully, they still provide a developer API which can be used to retrieve scrobble data. If you'd like to back up your Last.fm scrobble history for whatever reason, go ahead and give my Last.fm history backup tool a try.
